Well lately, I’ve been shooting a lot of wedding photography in Southern California, in Newport Beach. I grew up here, so it holds a special place in my heart and for many it is still considered a destination wedding location. My first few awards for wedding photography were earned there as well; I still think mostly because I knew of locations that most of the “older” guys at the time didn’t know about and catered to a younger crowd and at the time was on the edge of contemporary wedding photography and doing stuff that people just hadn’t seen. We did a lot of complicated strobe setups with heavy contrast and heavy saturation and printed on metal based papers to give a very unique look that I kind of settled into. As I’ve returned to shooting weddings in Newport Beach, I’ve also returned to my roots in terms of photographic style as well. I recently had the opportunity to shoot Toni Cooks and Jason Crooks wedding and went, what for me is old school, that still has that new school look. One thing is for sure, even after all these years my passion for being the best wedding photographer that I can be has not diminished at all. So please enjoy a few sample images from the Cook , Crook wedding photo gallery. (Don’t tell anybody but I’m anxious to get back to Kauai Wedding Photography).
